It seems that we are always starting over. We spin around in circles and never really get where we want to go. Well it’s all perspective. We live in a hurry up society. We want it NOW! Today stop a minute to really reflect on where you were in January 2014. Were you more in debt, heavier, unhappier, in that same old job? What can you do today that will leave you looking back on 2015 with a smile?
I read 2 books lately that changed a couple of things for me. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Ruben, has many strategies to let go and just become happier. But the one trick that I keep thinking about is Just Start! We tend to get so caught up in the how that we never start. Just 1 small baby step toward any of your goals today will start the ripple effect. Eat an apple instead of a candy bar, clean out the bathroom cupboard instead of tackling the whole house, walk around the block, make lunch instead of buying lunch. Just start.
The other book The Defining Decade, by Meg Jay is written for twentysomethings. Many twentysomethings think they are waiting for their 30’s for life to begin. But it’s those chances we take and the mistakes me make in our 20’s that set the groundwork for your 30’s. Back that down to a daily basis and the Just Start of today will lead to the accomplishments of tomorrow, whether we are 20, 30 or even 50+. We don’t need to know how we are getting there we just need to take that first step.
Getting this website officially launched has been on my plate for months. I didn’t want to do it because guess what? It’s not perfect. But it is just starting and I can make it better as it goes along.
Here we go 2015 we are in for an exciting and changing ride.
